Flooring Installer and Building Technician

Location : Atlantic Provinces, Canada

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install various types of flooring, including ceramic and porcelain tiles, carpet flooring, vinyl flooring, and wall tiles, following precise measurements and project
    specifications.
  • Inspect and prepare installation sites, ensuring proper levelling and surface preparation for optimal flooring installation.
  • Install subfloors, underlayments, and other supporting structures for different types of flooring.
  • Cut, shape, and fit tiles, carpets, and other flooring materials using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, to ensure smooth project execution and high-quality results.
  • Assist in other building and renovation tasks as needed, including carpentry, framework construction, door, kitchen and window installations, and other
    related duties.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans to determine project requirements and ensure accurate installations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite, adhering to all safety regulations and company guidelines.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for materials and labor, and ensure proper inventory management for flooring-related materials.
  • Uphold high standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in flooring and building techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to flooring installations and other building tasks during construction projects.
  • Follow the employer’s rules, regulations, policies, and practices, including work schedules, vacation, and sick leave.

  • Perform any and all duties as requested by the Employer that are reasonable and customarily performed by a person holding a similar position in the
    employer’s industry or business.
    The Employer may change the employee’s job title or duties where the changes would be considered reasonable for a similar position in the employer’s industry
    or business. These changes can be made with the approval of both the Employee and the Employer or after the notice period required under law.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely and efficient project completion.
    Training and Team Building:
  • learn with other employees to build a team of professional installers within a year.
  • Develop training programs and instructional materials to ensure new team members are proficient in various types of flooring installation and other related
    skills.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and supervision to trainees during installation projects to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Assess the progress of trainees and adjust training methods to address areas for improvement.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth.

    Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience in the installation of ceramic and porcelain tiles, carpet flooring, vinyl flooring, SPC core flooring and all kinds of wall tiles.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Familiarity with basic carpentry and renovation tasks.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines.
